  • Royal Botanic Gardens

    1

    Botanical Garden

Beautiful walk and oasis in the city. Perfect for a picnic or an ice-cream cone stop along the way. We put our feet up for a few minutes and enjoyed the view.

  • National Gallery of Victoria

    2

    Art Gallery

Fantastic museum, right across the street from the botanic gardens. Free except for special exhibits.

  • La Camera

    3

    Italian

At Southbank, tasty and well-priced Italian food. Great for families.

  • Eureka Skydeck 88

  • Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI)

A fun stop in the heart of Melbourne. We saw a special Hollywood costume exhibit on loan from London's V&A museum.

  • Queen Victoria Market

    6

A sprawling, historic market in the heart of the city where you can shop for fruit, veg, flowers, clothing and arts. Free, closed M, W, and public holidays.

  • Cafe Verona

    7

While you're at Queen Vic Market, stop here for some mini pancakes. Or try some of the terrific food trucks parked along the market.

  • Brunswick Street

    8

    Road

Shopping on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy, where vintage shops run shoulders with cafes, artsy places, and one-of-a-kind shops. Even our anti-shopper liked it.

    9

    Burgers

On Brunswick Street, stop here for the best burgers and onion rings we've had in ages.

  • Old Melbourne Gaol

    10

    History Museum

Get arrested by sarcastic guards for an up-close view then wander the exhibits of the museum. There's also a night tour w/the Hangman if you're feeling brave!

As a last hurrah, visit the historic neighbourhood of St. Kilda--stroll along the boardwalk and take in a few rides at Luna Park.
