created in 1564, it was eventually opened to the public in 1667. wonderful place to admire the city. nicolas advises to start your walk at place de la concorde.

good for breakfast or drinks after visiting the jardin des tuileries. located by the arcades of the louvre, in front of the pyramid (as seen in the photo).

stroll. after, look for didier ludot in the gardens themselves, where you will find a pristine 1950s dior ballgown next to a 1980 paco rabanne metallic dress.
Bistro
bona fide old school wine café. good spot to relax after visiting colette or you are en route to cafés verlet, right around the corner. no need to eat here.

fun, friendly neighborhood hideaway adjacent to enfants rouges market in NoMa (North Marais). open mondays (a rare thing in paris). french with japanese touch.
Department Store
an almost-great concept department store that our friends jessica, nicolas, anne and kevin all recommend. there's also a great lunch spot in the basement.
Road
a meandering one-lane thoroughfare of unremarkable 20th-century buildings with cool street-level cafes, small bars, vintage stores & indie fashion labels.
Museum
research institute established to share cultural information about the arab world, and to promote cooperation and exchanges between france and the arab nations.
Brasserie
you won't find this in the english-language paris guides. a true traditional brasserie located in the 5th. anne's father used to eat lunch here everyday.
Design
together with comptoir des cotonniers, a fun french fashion label.
Seafood
amongst the finest purveyors of oysters in a city that excels in oysters. it's all you need. served with muscadet or sancerre.
Pastry
beautiful pastries. take them to the jardin du luxembourg afterwards.
Garden
never an inappropriate time to go here. even in a blizzard with hail and lightning, the gardens here would remain exquisite.
Gourmet
get some salted caramels here, among other things.
Shop
tucked away in the back of a courtyard on the east side of the street, a superbly organized vintage + taxidermy store that’s GREAT for film research.
