    not far from dyrehaven, a humble, often overlooked museum for modern art that features mainly danish work, but also has a new annex designed by zaha hadid.

    the museum of decorative arts offers an outstanding collection and a 300 yr. old garden/courtyard for when you need a rest. formerly called kunstindustrimuseet.

    i love this building. half of it is suspended over the waterfront. a wonderful place to soak up the atmosphere of the harbor, and to see theater, of course.

    take the time to explore the areas around the opera house, as well as inside, of course. it's a wonderful venue. accessible by land and by sea.

    Concert Hall

    prince chose this venue over other copenhagen spots. a real working-class music hall that occasionally books great acts. seen crowded house here, cardigans too.

    can't say enough positive things about how the city has transformed what was once a shabby though heavily-used beach into a vital oasis. also lovely in winter.

    Bath House

    a very refined, very scandinavian outdoor sun + bathing experience. exquisitely old-school. a nice counterbalance to amager strandpark just across the sound.

    designed by santiago calatrava, it's visible from copenhagen. the development around the tower is an interesting contrast to copenhagen's ørestad development.

    have been to many shows here that have offered great inspiration. the last one i saw was probably ernesto neto.

    Art Museum

    at one time, it was known as Rooseum. located inside a former power plant, an art museum that's definitely worth the visit.

    Rock Club

    many well known indie acts prefer to play here rather than in copenhagen (where the crowds can be too disengaged). i've seen elliott smith here and the hives.

    have had many a fantastic meal here. great, festive atmosphere. or, so it was each time i visited. elegant, high end swedish cuisine with a modern take.
